On the afternoon of March 27th, the thematic conference of Zhongnan University of Economics and Law (ZUEL) on the construction of the innovative base for collaborative training of foreign-related rule of law professionals was held in the conference room on the 5th floor of Zhongyuan Building. Hou Zhenfa, Secretary of the CPC ZUEL Committee, Yang Canming, President, Deputy Secretary of the CPC ZUEL Committee, Qin Hong, Vice President, a member of the CPC ZUEL Standing Committee, Liu Renshan, Vice President, a member of the CPC ZUEL Standing Committee, and Zhou Wei, director of the Publicity Department of ZUEL, a member of the CPC ZUEL Standing Committee, presented the conference. Heads of theGraduate School, Office of Academic Affairs, Office of Inspection, Department of Discipline Construction and Management, International Exchange Office and leaders of law-related schools and projects participated in the conference. At the commencement of the meeting, Hu Honghong, dean of the Graduate School, shared the progress made on the construction of the base and outlined the near-term priorities for the development of the base. Zhou Yao, deputy dean of the Graduate School, elaborated on the implementation plan for the construction of the base, focusing on its organization structure and primary objectives. Heads of administrative departments and academic departments engaged in the discussion on the plan, gave performance reports based on the evaluation system of the effectiveness of the construction of the base, and arranged the follow-up work.
Qin Hong urged all departments to propose measures for the implementation plan: the Graduate School and Office of Academic Affairs should formulate a small-class teaching program as soon as possible, and each academic department should actively mobilize disciplinary resources and make connections with alumni to strengthen cooperation withinternational organizations, so as to contribute wisdom and strength to advancing the training of foreign-related rule of law professionals.
Liu Renshan pointed out that based on the effective preliminary work of the construction of the base, the university should give full play to its advantages on the training of foreign-related rule of law professionals, constantly innovate the training mode, and pool the efforts to further optimize the training system.
Yang Canming stressed that cultivating a high-quality team of foreign-related rule of law professionals is crucial to the development of ZUEL, and he put forward three suggestions. The first is to integrate disciplinary resources, andparticularlypromote the integration of law and other disciplines. The second is to build relationship with international organizations so as to make ZUEL a model school for cultivating international organization professionals. The third is to utilize on-campus, off-campus and overseas educational resources for collaborative training of more and better foreign-related rule of law professionals.
Hou Zhenfa fully affirmed the preliminary work of the construction of the base and put forward recommendations on the follow-up work. He suggested that all departments should continue to improve the implementation plan and operation mechanism, clarify their responsibilities, further refine and implement the tasks. By jointly overcoming difficulties, all departments are supposed to make their due contribution to building our university into a model for the training of foreign-related rule of law professionals in the new era and promote “Double First-Class” Initiative(building ZUEL into a world-class universities with a number of world-class disciplines).
The primary objective of this conference is to accelerate the implementation of tasks related to the construction of the base. To meet the country’s development needs, ZUEL will actively engage in the cultivation of foreign-related rule of law professionals through continuous cooperation with international organizations.
