The ZUEL Law Journal was formerly called Journal of Zhongnan Institute of Politics and Law which was founded in the earlier of 1957 and in the charge of journal editor commission for its edit and publication Journal of Zhongnan Institute of Politics and Law is an academic journal. After the publication of third issue in 1958, the name of Journal of Zhongnan Institute of Politics and Law was changed into Politics and Law Learning along with the merger of Zhongnan Institute of Politics and Law with other institutes into Hubei University. The journal of Politics and Law Learning had been normally operated in Hubei University until the university was cancelled.  In order to present its teaching and science and research achievements at first time of this institute with law as its core and cultivate talents, since the beginning of the reestablishment of Zhongnan institute of Politics and Law, the institute has been engaged in the found of academic journal. The temporary Party Committee of the institute submitted a report to party group of Ministry of Justice on resuming the publication of Journal of Zhongnan institute of politics and law on December 20th, 1984.  Later, the Ministry of Justice reported it to Ministry of Culture for approval. Finally, the authorities agreed that the Journal of Zhongnan institute of politics and law could be formally published as a quarterly journal. A resumed issue on December 20th,1984 with an aim to fully and accurately explain and publicize the Marxist theory of law and the country's laws and regulations; explore the characteristics of China's socialist legal system, the legal theory and practice in China and a series of legal issues in the current reform so as to serve the socialist economic development and legal system construction; deeply adopt investigation and research, exchange the research results, activate the academic thinking and discover and cultivate law research talents. The resumed Journal of Zhongnan institute of politics and law is a quarterly journal with 96 pages in all and published at 30th of the last month at the end of each quarter. The main columns of this journal include Legal System and Reform Forum, Law, Study on Legal System, Judicial Practice, Case Analysis and Discussion, Investigation Report, Teaching Reform Research, Selected Papers of Student, Self-Learning Assistance, Introduction of Foreign Law and so on. The journal was printed early and late by printing house of the Cash Crop Institute and Cotton Institute of Academy of Agricultural Sciences in Hubei, Freshman printing house in Hubei and printing house of South-Central Institute for Nationalities. According to the application of Zhongnan Institute of Politics and Law, the Journal of Zhongnan Institute of Politics and Law acquired the international standard serial number NO. ISSN1000-5234 assigned by International Serial Data System China (ISDS CHINA) on June 15th, 1987.  From 1989 to 1991, Zhongnan Institute of Politics and Law had reported three times to Ministry of Justice for changing the name and publication frequency of the Journal of Zhongnan Institute of Politics and Law but failed to do it due to various reasons. To implement the spirit of 14th national congress of CPC, Zhongnan Institute of Politics and Law submitted another report to Ministry of Justice with the request of changing the name of Journal of Zhongnan Institute of Politics and Law into Studies in Law and Business- Journal of Zhongnan Institute of Politics and Law and the publication frequency into bimonthly journal on November 18th,1992. Ministry of Justice later reported it to National News Publication Bureau for approval. on November 17th,1993, National News Publication Bureau approved Zhongnan Institute of Politics and Law’s request for changing the name of Journal of Zhongnan Institute of Politics and Law into Studies in Law and Business- Journal of Zhongnan Institute of Politics and Law. Since the second issue in 1994, Studies in Law and Business- Journal of Zhongnan Institute of Politics and Law(CN42-1370/D) was officially issued at its new name. At the same time, the journal also changed its publication frequency from quarterly into bimonthly and published in 15th at every odd month and printed in Printing house of Zhongnan Institute of Politics and Law. The main columns include Market Economy and Law, Law Forum, Hot Issue, Legal Opinion, Young and Middle Jurist, Foreign Legal System, Judicial Practice. In January 1998, Studies in Law and Business- Journal of Zhongnan Institute of Politics and Law started to be printed by science and technology printing house, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Wuhan branch. In January 1991, the pages of this journal increased from 96 to 128. In July 1999, the domestic unity issue number of the journal was changed into CN42-5055/D. In May 2000, Zhongnan University of Finance and Economics has merged with Zhongnan Institute of Politics and Law into Zhongnan University of Economics and Law. In January 2001, the name of Studies in Law and Business- Journal of Zhongnan Institute of Politics and Law was changed into Studies in Law and Business- Zhongnan University of Economics and Law Journal (Law) with its pages increased from 128 to 144. In May 2002, the domestic unity issue number of Studies in Law and Business- Zhongnan University of Economics and Law Journal (Law) was changed into CN42-1370/D. In July 2002, under the requirements of document NO.653 [2002] of National News Publication Bureau of People’s Republic of China, Studies in Law and Business- Zhongnan University of Economics and Law Journal was officially renamed as Studies in Law and Business with a new domestic unity issue number CN42-1664/D. In January 2003, Studies in Law and Business acquired the international standard serial number NO. ISSN1672-0393 assigned by International Serial Data System China (ISDS CHINA).
