From May 15 to 18,Zhongnan University of Economics and Law (ZUEL) held a series of exchange symposia for young overseas scholars at four prestigious universities in the UK, including the University of Cambridge, the University of Oxford, the University of London, and Imperial College London, part of ZUEL’s initiative to build a communication bridge for young overseas scholars, enhance its international influence and attract outstanding young international talents.
The UK information session drew significant interest from UK-based Chinese scholars, bringing together over 230 young academics on-site. To ensure highly targeted recruitment of top-tier talent, ZUEL collaborated with its academic departments prior to the visit, tailoring its strategy to the disciplinary strengths of UK universities. By holding dedicated preparatory meetings, meticulously polishing promotional materials, and refining Q&A guidelines for candidates, the university ensured a highly efficient, precise, and practical recruitment process.
During the presentation session, members of the ZUEL delegation delivered a comprehensive overview of the university’s historical evolution, disciplinary strengths, talent and faculty development, teaching programs, scientific research, international cooperation and exchanges, campus culture and other aspects. They underscored the university’s high regard for and strong demand for overseas talents, and elaborated on key concerns of scholars, including the comprehensive personnel reform, vacant positions and remuneration packages, talent introduction policies, and support mechanisms for career advancement. Faculty representatives from the School of Finance, School of Public Administration and School of Information Engineering also gave special presentations featuring the disciplinary characteristics of their schools.
In the candid discussion session, participants raised questions concerning ZUEL’s disciplines, research platforms, research team development and personal career prospects. Delegates responded to each query with thorough and patient explanations. They also communicated with attendees about their intentions to return to China and conducted preliminary on-site interviews amid a vibrant and engaging atmosphere.
This UK visit constitutes a key initiative for ZUEL to implement its talent strategy of “Going Global to Attract Global Talent”, intensify overseas talent recruitment efforts and elevate its international influence. Moving forward,ZUEL will further integrate resources to build a diversified platform featuring university-school coordination, interdisciplinary collaboration and alumni engagement. With a more open mindset, more favorable policies and broader development platforms,ZUEL will gather top talents worldwide, continuously expand channels for talent recruitment, and forge ahead in building a high-caliber talent hub.
