ZUEL Joined the 13th Summit Forum of the Legal Alliance

News Network The 13th Summit Forum of the National Political and Legal Education Alliance (the Legal Alliance) convened at the Xinjiang University of Political Science and Law from July 6th to 7th. Senior officials and heads from the Ministry of Justice, the China Law Society, the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps participated in the forum. Additionally, more than 200 delegates, including representatives from the 10 member universities, as well as officials from the department of political and legal affairs and the education sector of the Autonomous Region and the Corps, convened in Tumushuke City, southern part of Xinjiang, to explore strategies for advancing legal education and theoretical research in the contemporary era.Among the attendees were Hou Zhenfa, Secretary of the Party Committee, Liu Renshan, a member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President, heads of departments responsible for teaching activities and academic research at Zhongnan University of Economics and Law (ZUEL), as well as representatives from other relevant departments.

The guiding theme of this year’s forum is “Grounded in Xi Jinping Thought on the Rule of Law,Drive the Innovation and Development of Legal Education and Theoretical Research in the New Era to Advance China’s Modernization.” The forum set up four sub-forums, respectively themed “Injecting New Dynamics of Xi Jinping Thought on the Rule of Law into the Law Discipline in the New Era”, “Promoting Training Mechanism for Cultivating New-era Legal Talents for Foreign Affairs by Legal Education”, “Enabling High-quality Regional Economic and Social Development by Improving the Rule of Law in the Border Areas” and “Exploring the New Paradigm of Rule of Law in China (Xinjiang) Pilot Free Trade Zone”, about which the participating experts and scholars had in-depth discussions and academic exchanges.

In the discussion about the guiding theme, Liu Renshan, on behalf of ZUEL, made a report on “Innovating Cultivation of Legal Talents for Foreign Affairs: an Interdisciplinary Model”. He introduced that guided by Xi Jinping Thought on the Rule of Law, ZUEL leverages the strengths of in-depth integration of economics and law to explore the training mechanism for cultivating legal talents for foreign affairs, which both meets the requirements of the times and the urgent needs of the national strategy, and is characteristic of ZUEL. For the goal, ZUEL takes action on reform and innovation of its education mode, improving the curriculum and practice, introducing a faculty of experts, promoting high-level international cooperation further, and promoting the transformation of the outputs of scientific and social research from the theory in reality.

Liu Renshan presided over the second sub-forum. Qian Xuefeng, Head of Academic Affairs made a summary report. More than 30 experts and scholars had a discussion on the Training Mechanism for Cultivating New-era Legal Talents for Foreign Affairs by upgrading law education.

It was announced that the 14th Legal Alliance Summit would be hosted by Zhongnan University of Economics and Law. The forum emblem was accordingly passed to ZUEL by China University of Political Science and Law and Xinjiang University of Political Science and Law on the closing ceremony.

Jointly established by China University of Political Science and Law, Southwest University of Political Science and Law, East China University of Political Science and Law, Zhongnan University of Economics and Law and Northwest University of economics and law in 2010, the Legal Alliance is committed to sharing high-quality legal education resources, boosting the development of legal education and elevating the quality of legal talent cultivation. With efforts, it aims to support comprehensive law-based governance and promote building a socialist country under the rule of law. Today, the Summit Forum of the National Political and Legal Education Alliance has evolved into a nationally influential forum for legal studies and a significant platform for legal education. It is held every year in turn by ten member Universities featuring political and legal science, including China University of Political Science and Law, Southwest University of Political Science and Law, East China University of Political Science and Law, Zhongnan University of Economics and Law, Northwest University of Political Science and Law, Gansu University of Political Science and Law, Shanghai University of Political Science and Law, Shandong University of Political Science and Law, Henan University of Economics and Law, and Xinjiang University of Political Science and Law.
