The First Award Ceremony of Maonian Scholarship Sponsored by Maoniao Fund Held in ZUEL

News Network (Reporter Hu Yao) The first award ceremony of ZUEL Maonian scholarship of Maonian fund was held in Wenquan reporting hall on the afternoon of Sep. 17^th. There were many people attending the meeting held by Zhang Hu, Dean of School of Statistics and Mathematics, including Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of ZUEL Qi Wenyuan, the director of the party school and secretary of ZUEL educational development foundation Ruan Shixi, the representative of Maonian fund sponsors and chairman of Shenzhen Botian Equity Management Co. Ltd. Qu Dingkun, Professor Li Xuanju from Shenzhen University, Professor Peng Weixiang from the branch school of Jinan University, the leadership of School of Statistics and Mathematics, the president of academic committee and teaching staff and students of School of Statistics and Mathematics.

Qi Wenyuan, vice-chair of university council of ZUEL has delivered a speech. On behalf of Zhang Zhonghua, secretary of the Party Committee of ZUEL and Yang Canming, president of ZUEL, Qi has extended warm welcome to all the distinguished guests present and congratulations to award winners. He emphasized that the progress of Maonian fund has gained energetically supports from foundation, alumni association and School of Statistics and Mathematics and the positive response from the preparation to founding of Maonian fund, which is closely indebted to their painstaking efforts. Qi also encouraged awarded students to cherish the precious time during the university to work hard and better equip themselves with skills, thus earning the credit for ZUEL by applying the knowledge and talents in the cut-throat competition to establish the career.  

Zhang Hu has introduced the background of setting up Maonian fund. It is sponsored by the students of famous statistic Li Maonian, including Qu DingKun, Li Xuanju, Peng Weixiang, Zhang Hu and Liu Jianping in the 100^th anniversary of the birth of Li Maonian, aiming to award those who make prominent achievements in science and researches. Maonian scholarship of Maonian fund serves as the permanent fund with the original fund of 1 million and 10 thousand additional fund per year.

The representative of Maonian fund sponsors and chairman of Shenzhen Botian Equity Management Co. Ltd. Qu Dingkun, professor Li Xuanju from ShenzhenUniversity, professor Peng Weixiang from the branch school of Jinan University have made speeches respectively in the ceremony. They mentioned the original purpose of the setting of Maonian fund, the profound attachment and devotion toward indebted professor Li and shared their views on scientific research.

Later, 35 classmates have been awarded the honored certificate and scholarship of Maonian by the leadership and distinguished guests.

Fan Shasha, the representative of the 2014-undergraduate of Department of Economics and Statistics made a speech. She expressed her joy and gratefulness and determined to double the efforts to do the academic study with diligent and serious attitude.

Secretary of ZUEL educational development foundation Ruan Shixi made a statement. He looked back the process of the preparation and foundation of Maonian fund and thought highly of the kindness and credit of Qu Dingkun et al., which perfectly gave the explanation of the deep responsibility and courage to society, education and the future and the great virtues of indebted gratefulness and selfless reward. ZUEL educational development foundation will vigorously strive to spread the seed of virtue and love among ZUEL to make it sprout and grow, fueling ZUEL to stride forward to a new level.
