From April 16 to 24, Hou Zhenfa,Party Secretary of Zhongnan University of Economics and Law, led a delegation to pay official visits to Switzerland, Italy and Kazakhstan. The delegation visited world-famous universities and major international organizations, and signed a number of cooperation agreements. The delegation also visited ZUEL’s cadres who participated in the pairing assistance program in Xinjiang.
On April 16, the delegation visited the University of Fribourg. The two sides reached extensive consensus on discipline co-construction, faculty-student exchange, and joint scientific research by having an in-depth exchange with Bernard Ries, the Vice President. These efforts consolidated the foundation for long-term cooperation between the two universities.

The delegation paid visits to the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR). They met separately with Chen Hongbing, Executive Director of the WIPO Academy, and Julian Caletti, Training Program Officer of the Multilateral Diplomacy Division at UNITAR, and hah in-depth discussions. The delegation also signed a cooperation agreement with UNITAR, focusing on global governance and foreign-related rule of law so as to jointly build a cooperation platform and cultivate high-level professional talents.

During their stay in Italy, the delegation was invited to the opening ceremony of Sapienza University of Rome. Hou Zhenfa held friendly talks with President Antonella Polimeni. The two sides reviewed the achievements of their decade-long cooperation and focused on discussions over the establishment of the Shouyi International Campus (Shouyi campus, a campus of Zhongnan University of Economics and Law) and the Interdisciplinary Research Centers.

At the centenary celebration of the International Institute for the Unification of Private Law (UNIDROIT), Hou Zhenfa held talks with Secretary-General Ignacio Tirado. The two sides advocated enhancing collaborative training and academic cooperation for foreign-related rule of legal professionals. Hou Zhenfa also had constructive exchanges with Li Xiaoyong, Chargé d’Affaires ad interim of the Chinese Embassy in Italy, on China-Italy educational cooperation.

On April 23, the delegation paid visits to Al-Farabi Kazakh National University and Caspian University, holding separate talks with President Zhanseit Tuimebayev and President Zholdasbek Nussenov.
ZUEL signed an agreement on the establishment of a high-quality international student recruitment base with Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, which advanced practical cooperation in joint talent training, scholarship setup and discipline co-construction, and further improved the university’s cooperation network in Central Asia. Meanwhile, the delegation met with ZUEL alumni in Kazakhstan to pool resources and support the university’s international development.

After the overseas visit,the delegation headed to Xinjiang University of Finance and Economics to visit andextended ZUEL’s heartfelt concernfor Zhou Mingshan, Vice President of our university, and other cadres assigned to aid programs for Xinjiang.They subsequently held a forum with Zhou Yaozhi, Secretary of the CPC Xinjiang University of Finance and Economics Committee, and other school leaders. The two sides conductedin-depth exchanges on the joint establishment of an advanced research institute, talent training and pairing assistance, and reached consensus on supporting China’s western development and the Belt and Road Initiative.
