Chen Baifeng, Vice President of ZUEL, Leads Delegation to Attend China-Central Asia Conference on Exchanges and Mutual Learning of Legal Civilizations

On October 21st, Chen Baifeng, Member of the Standing Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Zhongnan University of Economics and Law (ZUEL) Committee, led a delegation to Urumqi to attend the China-Central Asia Conference on Exchanges and Mutual Learning of Legal Civilizations. The conference was co-hosted by the Peoples Government of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region and China University of Political Science and Law. Also joining the delegation were Hu Honghong, Dean of the Graduate School; Dong Bangjun, Dean of the Criminal the Criminal Justice School; Xu Weigong, Dean of the School of International Law; and Zhang Jinke, Deputy Director of the Ministry of Scientific Research.

Chen Baifeng,Vice President of ZUEL,delivered a keynote speech at the conference. Centering on the theme ofSino-Foreign Cooperative Educational Models for CultivatingForeign-related Legal Talents”, he elaborated on the universitys practical explorations in innovating educational models from three aspects. Firstly, establishing institutions topool intellectual resources andlay a solid foundation for Sino-foreign cooperative education. Secondly, launching projects and improving mechanisms to optimize the talent training chain. Thirdly, expanding channels and building brands to enhance the effectiveness of international talent cultivation. He emphasized that guided by the vision of“ACommunity with a Shared Future for Mankind and Xi Jinping Thought on the Rule of Law,ZUELleverages its strengths in the disciplines of economics, law and management, and closelyconnects with the Belt and Road Initiative. It has carried out in-depth cooperation with international organizations such as the International Institute for the Unification of Private Law (UNIDROIT), the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and the Asia-Pacific Space Cooperation Organization (APSCO). Additionally, it has co-foundedChina’s first Sino-foreign cooperative educational institution in the field of law and economics with Sapienza University of Rome, continuously pioneering new approaches to cultivatingforeign-related legal talents through Sino-foreign cooperation.

At the conference, Vice President Chen Baifeng, together with representatives from other universities, jointly initiated the establishment of the China-Central Asia Alliance for Legal Education. The alliance The alliance aims to create a new mechanism for exchanges and mutual learning among diverse legal civilizations, and build a platform for in-depth exchanges, mutual learning and co-development of legal civilizations between China and Central Asian countries. It also seeks to serve as a new bridge for advancing the modernization of regional legal systems by extensively conducting exchanges on legal civilizations and cooperation in legal education, so as to improve and refine the regional legal rule system. Furthermore, it strives to set a new benchmark for regional cooperation in legal education, promote the sharing of educational resources, complement each others strengths, and form a regional characteristic community of legal education.

During the parallel forum discussions, Dean Hu Honghong and Dean Xu Weigong delivered speeches themedExploration and Innovation in Cultivating Foreign Cultivating Foreign-related Legal Talents and“Building a First-Class International Business Environment and Advancing Internationaland Advancing Internationaland Advancing International Arbitration between China and Central Asia respectively.

During conference intervals, Vice President Chen Baifeng and his delegation had cordial exchanges with representatives from universities of the five Central Asian countries and reached initial intentions on future cooperation.

One day prior to the conference, the delegation visited Xinjiang University of Finance and Economics, where they conducted research and exchanges on talent training, scientific research cooperation and professional accreditation.
