On June 17, a think tank symposium focusing on Hubei’s pivotal role in Central China’s development was held in Wuhan, Hubei Province. This symposium, planned and guided by Federation of Social Sciences, was hosted by Zhongnan University of Economics and Law (ZUEL), co-organized by the Hubei Provincial Society for State Governance, the Research Department and the School of Public Administration of ZUEL, and supported by Zhidian Publishing House. The event centered on the theme of “accelerating the construction of a pivotal role for Hubei, strengthening inter-provincial cooperation, and promoting the rise of Central China from a higher starting point”, with participants coming together to discuss regional coordinated development strategies.
Attending the symposium were Hou Zhenfa, Secretary of the Party Committee of ZUEL;Liu Aiguo, Secretary of the Party Committee and Executive Vice President of the Hubei Provincial Federation of Social Sciences; as well as over 40 representatives, experts, and scholars from the political, academic, and business sectors in Beijing and six provinces of Central China. the symposium was chaired by Chen Baifeng, a member of the Party Committee and Vice President of ZUEL.
Hou Zhenfa stated that this year is a crucial year for implementing the spirit of the National Education Conference and the outline of the Plan for Building a Strong Education Country. It is also the year for the conclusion of the“14th Five - Year Plan” and the planning of the“15th Five - Year Plan”,and more importantly, the year for Hubei Province to embark on a new journey ofits pivot construction. He sincerely hopes that the participating guests from all walks of life, outstanding entrepreneurs, and a large number of alumni can fully integrate their characteristic and advantageous resources to create the“Hubei Think - Tank Community”, empower the high - quality development of Hubei with high - quality think - tank achievements, and make new and greater contributions to accelerating the construction of an important strategic pivot for the rise of the central region and striving to write a new chapter for Hubei in Chinese - style modernization.
Liu Aiguo stated that since the implementation of the strategy for the rise of the central region, under the strong leadership of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China with Comrade Xi Jinping at the core, the six central provinces have stimulated their internal driving forces through reform and opening - up, and their economies have continued to grow rapidly. However, to steadily promote the rise of the central region at a higher starting point, the six central provinces still need to work together, make coordinated efforts, and establish and improve theinter-provincial cooperation mechanism.
Ten experts drawing on their respective professional fields and practical experience shared insights to support Hubei Province’s strategic role as a central development hub. The panel included: Yin Hanning, former Vice Chairman of Hubei Provincial People’s Congress Standing Committee,Pei Changhong, CPPCC National Committee member and former Director of the Institute of Economics at CASS,Zhang Zhancang, advisor to Henan Provincial Party Committee and former President of Henan Academy of Social Sciences,Luo Yunshou, former Deputy Director andfirst-level inspector of Hunan Provincial Policy Research Office,Zhu Xiwen, formersecond-level inspector at Jiangxi Provincial Government Research Office,Wei Jiuchang, Dean of the School of Public Affairs, University of Science and Technology of China,Song Zhiqi, Party Secretary of Mayinglong Pharmaceutical Group and Wuhan Municipal People’s Congress deputy,Ji Huizhen, Vice Dean of the School of Political Science and Public Administration at Shanxi University,Liu Weihua, Assistant President of Wuhan Industrial Innovation and Development Research Institute,Li Xiaoping, Assistant President of Zhongnan University of Economics and Law.The discussion, moderated byZhang Guangke, Dean of the School of Public Administration at Zhongnan University of Economics and Law, covered key areas including financial innovation, regional cooperation, industrial upgrading, and rural revitalization.
Delving deep into areas such as financial innovation, regional coordination, industrial upgrading, and rural revitalization, the forum produced practical policy recommendations and academic solutions to strengthen regional innovation, promote high-quality development in central China, and enhance Hubei’s role as a key economic hub. These contributions provide valuable intellectual support and actionable strategies for inter-provincial collaboration.
