On the afternoon of September 10th, Zhongnan University of Economics and Law (ZUEL) celebrated the 40th Teachers’ Day in the lecture hall of the Wenquan building. The celebration was attended by all university leaders, directors of administrative departments and academic departments, and representatives of high-level talents, award-winning teachers, teachers with 40 years’ experience, 2023-2024 retiring faculty members, new faculty members, and students. The event was hosted by Chen Shi, Deputy Secretary of the CPC ZUEL Committee.
At about 2 p.m., the event commenced with the majestic national anthem in the hall adorned with banners celebrating Teacher’s Day. All the participants were energetic.
Hou Zhenfa, Secretary of the CPC ZUEL committee, made remarks. He noted that over the past seven decades, ZUEL, as a university founded by the party, has always carried out its original mission of developing the university for the Party, the nation, and its people by fostering high-caliber faculty and cultivating innovative talents. He urged all ZUELers to act with greater sense of responsibility, mission, and urgency, and take a clearer political stance, in order to make solid progress toward the goal of building China into a leading country in education.
Yang Canming, President and Deputy Secretary of the CPC ZUEL Committee, extended festival greetings to all on behalf of the university in his sincere address. He encouraged the faculty to pool their wisdom and strength to live up to General Secretary Xi’s expectations for teachers: bearing in mind the original mission of educating people for the Party and the nation, and carrying forward the spirit of outstanding Chinese educators, so as to strive for the goals of building China into a leading country in education, building a great country, and advancing national rejuvenation on all fronts through Chinese modernization.

Hou Zhuo, an award-winning teacher representative, delivered a speech on his key to being a good teacher: striving to strike a balance between “Wei (action)” and “Buwei (non-action)”.

Professor Shi Jin, as a representative of high-level talents, delivered a speech, sharing his profound insights into scientific research and pedagogy, and offering invaluable advice to new faculty members on excelling in scientific endeavors.

Representatives of the new faculty members presented floral tributes to the retiring faculty members, and Hou Zhenfa gracefully adorned them with silk scarves as a token of appreciation.
Li Jinlong, a student representative, delivered a speech to extend his festival greetings and sincere gratitude to the teachers who have been leading him along the path of wisdom, benevolence, and courage.
The event drew to a close with the resounding chorus of the alma mater, sung with enthusiasm by all teachers and students alike.
On the eve of Teachers’ Day, the university leadership made a special visit to esteemed professors such as Wu Handong, and extended their heartfelt greetings to the teachers on assignment to temporary posts in Xinjiang, Yunnan, and other regions.
