This cultural feast includes three chapters under the titles of Campus, Consanguinity, and Completeness respectively.
What came as the prologue was Jasmine, a classical symphonic wind music piece presented by ZUEL Wind orchestra. The performance was so impressive that the audience sharing the same roots was clearly enchanted.
The first chapter Campus: Gathering of Youth began with the energetic performance of martial dance “Descendants of the Dragon” and street dance “Wild Youth”. Taiwanese student representatives sang “Olive Tree”, “Orchid Grass” and other songs in Southern Fujian Dialect, refreshing precious memories from deep inside of young people on both sides of the Taiwan Strait.
In the following chapter Consanguinity: Ties of Blood, accompanied by the harmonious combination of drums, horns, pipes and strings, the excellent traditional Chinese culture such as Peking Opera and folk music created new notes of contemporary time.
With Yao Li as the lead dancer, member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and also the vice president of the university, leaders and professors of ZUEL presented a wonderful Peking Opera performance “Ode to Pear Flower”. Distilled from the thousands of years of accumulation of Chinese culture and authentic traditional opera performance, the glamour of the dance brought more respect and worship to the professors who are outstanding on both rostrums and stages.
In the last chapter Completeness: Fulfillment of Dreams, the university choir and dance troupe of ZUEL successively gave marvelous performances. The ancient and modern time and space magically converged with the singing of “The Great Bridge" and the dancing of "Thousand miles of Rivers and Mountains”. Moreover, the treasures of China's outstanding traditional culture and the extraordinary history of China's development were mutually reflected in the performance. Afterwards, Professor Wan Houfen, Professor Lai Yanjun and student representatives recited “That Is the Cricket” and “Cross-Strait Letters” under the theme of cross-Strait reunification, embodying the common aspiration of compatriots on both sides of the Straits for peace and stability.
At the end of the gala, Yang Canming, president of ZUEL, along with heads of all schools, performed a chorus named My Motherland and Me. The passionate melody brought the gala to its climax. “China catches my heart. No one can break us apart.” The simple lyrics represented the wish for reunification of all Chinese, the hope of development for a rich and strong country, and the Chinese dream of national rejuvenation. The gala ended in the chorus of all guests, teachers, and students.
The 2023 Hubei-Taiwan youth gala themed “one family across the Strait, fighting youth for the state” was held by ZUEL in collaboration with Hubei Association for Promoting Exchanges Across the Taiwan Straits, Hubei Youth Federation, Wuhan Association for Promoting Exchanges Across the Taiwan Straits, and New Party Youth Committee. The gala took “community, consanguinity and completeness” as its theme. It aimed to enhance the communication and cooperation between the young people of Hubei and Taiwan by learning and practicing the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the CPC and by implementing the spirit conveyed by Secretary-General Xi Jinping in his letter to the Taiwan youth participating the Straits Youth Forum. The gala was to better enable young people across the Strait to unite together, work together, persevere and never give up to let the youth blossom in the realization of the Chinese dream of national rejuvenation.
